Trump threats the countries supporting the UN resolution on Jerusalem

The United States President, Donald Trump, threatened the termination of financial aid to countries that support the UN resolution against Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Earlier this month Trump said Jerusalem was the capital of Israel, although it has been internationally criticized and has recently sparked rallies in places.
"They take millions of dollars and even billions of dollars and they vote against us," he told reporters at the White House.
"Let them speak against us, we'll save a lot, we do not care.

His comments came ahead of a vote in the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday for a resolution opposed to recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The draft resolution does not specify the United States specifically but any decision on Jerusalem should be canceled.

Earlier, the US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, warned UN member states that President Trump asked him to report 'who opposed us against' on Thursday's vote on New York time.
The status of Yerusalam is a major issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Israel occupied the eastern part of the city - which was previously occupied by Jordan - during the 1967 Middle East war and considers it all as an inseparable capital.
While the Palestinians claim East Jerusalem as the capital of a future state and under the Oslo Accords of 1993 then the final status will be established in the next stage of the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

A total of 193 members of the United Nations General Assembly will hold an unusual special session on Thursday at the request of Arab and Islamic nations condemning President Trump's decision to change US policy for decades.
The Palestinians urged a special meeting to be held after the United States vetoed a UN Security Council resolution which insists that any decision on Jerusalem's status is 'void and abolished' and urges all states to 'refrain from forming diplomatic missions in the holy city'.

In addition to the US, 14 members of the Security Council supported the draft but Nikki Haley called it an 'insult'.
The non-binding resolution was proposed by Turkey and Yemen to be brought to a vote in the General Assembly by reflecting the UN vetoed DK draft.
Palestinian permanent observer at the UN, Riyad Mansour, expressed hope of getting 'widespread support' for the resolution.

But on Tuesday (19/12), Haley warned in a letter to dozens of UN members to let them know that 'the president and the United States see the balloting as personal.'
"The president will observe the ballot carefully and have asked me to report on the countries that are against us We will record each of these votes in this case," he wrote, as reported by reporters who had seen the letter.
"The president's announcement will in no way affect the final status talks, including the special frontier of Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem," he added. "The President also made clear support for the status quo (current state) of the holy sites of Jerusalem."
Haley reiterated his warning via Twitter message, "The US will record names."

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki and his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, accused the United States of intimidating.
"We see that the United States, left alone, is now turning to a threat No one honorable and dignified country will be subject to this pressure," Cavusoglu said in a joint press conference with al-Maliki in the Turkish capital Ankara before flying to New York to attend the UN General Assembly.
